VASCO: Hitting out at GPCC President John Fernandes for allegedly linking him as the “BJP spokesperson”, Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho warned that the remark has further destroyed little hopes of reconciliation and it will cost the Congress dearly.
“By terming me as a BJP spokesperson, Fernandes has further escalated the problem with my workers. Fernandes has not only antagonised my workers and supporters, but has also alienated them which made my supporters and workers angry,” stated Godinho when asked for his reaction.
“Even if I wanted to support the South Goa Lok Sabha Congress candidate and persuade my workers, but now my workers will not allow me to do so, as the recent remark has further worsened the situation,” Godinho told Herald and added “Fernandes has further insulted my workers and now he has no control over the angry workers.”
“I thought that better sense would prevail on the GPCC and things would fall in place, but the irresponsible utterance of Fernandes for the second time has further destroyed little hope that was left with them,” stated Godinho.
“Fernandes is only a paper leader without any grass-root support and this unwarranted remark will cost the Congress party dearly,” warned Godinho.
When asked whether he will help Reginaldo Lourenco if he personally requests him to lend his support, Godinho said the recent remark against him has worsened the situation and under no situation he will support Lourenco.
“Fernandes has further destructed and disseminated my workers and this will prove too costly for the Congress party. Fernandes will be personally responsible for Congress’ downfall in Dabolim constituency for his irrelevant, unwarranted and irresponsible remarks against me,” he added.
