MARGAO: Opposing the two new projects proposed by Goa Housing Board at Rumdamoll Davorlim, People Front of Navelim has demanded that instead of building apartments, it would be better to sell plots to the homeless.
Recalling that the Goa Housing Board had promised not to have any more housing colonies in the village, Front chairman Vishwadas Naik said that the Board’s plan to construct around 370 flats in 7000 square metres area is another attempt to dump “unmanageable trash” in the village.
Speaking to media persons, he said migrants from Bihar and Jharkhand and other States have occupied the village and it is difficult today to find an original Goan.
“Those MLAs interested in having housing board societies should set them up in their respective constituencies,” he said.
He pointed out that the 72 flats sold by the Goa Housing Board recently were auctioned to the highest bidder which was against the principle of providing housing to the weaker sections and further disclosed that 11 of those who successfully bid for the flats have since withdrawn as they cannot raise the amount.
