PANJIM: The NCP on Tuesday said it will spearhead an agitation, against the recent Goa government decision on Medium of Instruction, if it has support from parents.
Speaking at a press briefing, chief spokesperson Trajano D’Mello slammed the government over its decision, saying it has betrayed the trust of Goan parents.
“This government has betrayed all. It has not considered parents’ choice…We will spearhead an agitation if we have parents’ support,” he said stressing that the party’s stand on MoI is that medium should always be chosen by parents’.
The party has also criticized the government for its U-turns on Regional Plan, Casinos and zero tolerance to corruption. It has also asked the Manohar Parrikar-government to replace the name of the Indoor Stadium at Taleigao from Dr Shyamprasad Mukherjee to that of a Goan player. “It is the prerogative of a government to name a stadium but in this case, it should in the name of a Goan,” he further said. The BJP, at a press conference on Monday, had defended government’s decision over the naming of the stadium.
