PONDA: The newly constructed culvert on the four-lane National Highway at Dhavlim has been posing grave threat to motorists plying on the route.
Goa Suraksha Yuva Manch members Santosh Satarkar and Harshad Devari claimed that the slab of the culvert has been damaged with its iron rods exposed. They fear that the rods would get rusted and the culvert may collapse in future.
Devari, an engineer, said the culvert was constructed a few months ago but due to substandard work some portion of the concrete slab of the culvert got washed away during the first showers leaving the iron rods exposed.
Expressing fear that the road may even cave in if not repaired properly, Devari alleged that the work of the culvert’s retaining wall is of poor quality. He demanded that an inquiry be conducted into the matter.
