New Year may begin with rains: IMD

PANJIM: There was a dampener of an announcement from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on New Year’s Eve. It has predicted rains in Goa for the next three days. The showers could play spoilsport for the lakhs of party revellers who have descended on the State to usher in the New Year.

Assistant meteorologist Harisasan told Herald that a low-pressure area that has developed along the Bay of Bengal along the Andhra Pradesh coast will bring in moderate to light rainfall in some parts of the State, which would lower the minimum temperature.
“A low-pressure area is being developed bringing in cloudy weather conditions across the State. The State might witness rainfall tonight and for the next two-three days,” he said, dismissing the possibility of heavy showers.
