NH4A four-laning gets Central nod

The Centre today gave its stamp of approval for the four-laning of the NH4A, between Panjim and Anmod, with the Union Ministry for Road Transport and Highways approving the file for notifying Section 3(d) of the Land Acquisition Act.
The Section 3(d) is to be notified only on the 35-meter stretch as the House Committee appointed a 6-member panel to look into the grievances of the people.
In order to save as many houses as possible, the House Committee has decided to construct a bypass from Old-Goa to Bhoma.
Speaking to Herald from Delhi, PWD Minister Churchill Alemao said that the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Kamal Nath has agreed to the new proposal sent by the State Government.
“Kamal Nath today moved a file from National Highways Authority of India for the notification of the Section 3(d) of land acquisition by the Government of India”, Churchill said.
He said the minister has also agreed to look into other grievances of the people.
It may be recalled that Kamal Nath had set a deadline of November 30 for issuing of Section 3(d) of the Act.
In view of the above, the State delegation led by Churchill Alemao met Kamal Nath and got his stamp of approval.
“The notification will be issued by day after tomorrow”, officials told Herald.
