PANJIM: After trudging to Panjim for medicines with great difficulty or skipping the night dose for nearly a month, patients and their relatives can now heave a sigh of relief as the night pharmacy at GMC has finally reopened, now at Yatri Niwas.
A fire in the only night pharmacy run by Goa Antibiotic & Pharmaceutical Pvt Ltd, (GAPL) at GMC, in December, had denied patients the facility of procuring medicines at night.
“The same pharmacy has been shifted to the Yatri Niwas and has started functioning for over a week now,” Medical Superintendent Dr Sunanda Amonkar told Herald.
Sources within GMC said that some patients even skipped a night dose of their drugs rather than have to make someone travel to Panjim.
“We are worried that our patients may have skipped their night doses of medication,” a source from GMC said.
The other privately run pharmacy functioning at the Goa Medical College, used to shut shop by 8pm, leaving buyers to fend for themselves.
