PANJIM: In the National Education policy rollout in Goa, the first stage of schooling for students – the Foundation Stage will be curated without a structured syllabus or books aiming at all round growth rather than achieving syllabus related milestones.

Here the early grooming of students will be done for five years.
Of these five years, three years will consist of anganwadi/ pre-primary/ nursery and first and second grade.
With students being taught in play-mode, no examination will be conducted. However after completion of five years, each child will be evaluated.
The Foundation Stage includes three years of anganwadi/ pre-primary/ nursery and first and second grade covering students in the age group of 3 to 8 years from the upcoming academic year 2023-24.
Nearly 3,000 educational institutes offering Foundation Stage will commence their academic term from July 3.
The State has decided to adopt the National Curriculum Framework for Foundation Stage (NCFFS) developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). At the same time, a Committee under Prof Anil Samant has been constituted to prepare State specific Curriculum Framework- covering aspects like State culture, history, nature- within six months, for its implementation at the foundation stage.
Addressing reporters, while announcing the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Secretary (Education) Prasad Lolayekar said that NCFFS will be also made available in Konkani and Marathi languages while teachers would be trained for successful implementation of the new framework.
“We had to start at some point. The aim is to ensure the holistic development of the child in aspects such as physical development, community development and socio-emotional development. There will be no teaching of structural syllabus. There would be no books for the students,” he said adding ‘the existing textbooks for first and second grades will be withdrawn in a phased manner from next academic year.’
He said that a total of 100 master trainers are being trained by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), who will further impart training to the teachers.
The roll out of the first stage of the National Education Policy plan will be from July 3 onwards.
