PANJIM: Rubbishing the allegations of Manohar Parrikar u-turns, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday claimed that the propaganda by Congress is basically to malign State government’s image. BJP has also urged Parrikar to register cases against those former Minister’s allegedly involved in corruption.
Addressing a press conference, BJP spokesman Dr Wilfred Mesquita said that the allegations levied by Congress are without any substance and aimed at malign State government’s image.
Targeting bus operator cum Congress spokesman Sudip Tamankar, Mesquita said ‘the transport operator turned Congressman is one of the biggest u-turner of 2012, who after flourishing under Parrikar’s wings, switched on to Congress’.
Clarifying on zero tolerance to corruption, Mesquita said that government aims to reduce the level of corruption and is making all possible effort to achieve that.
“Corruption in government administration, does exists but it is inherited from previous Congress government,” he alleged.
The BJP leader pointed out that its government, in past nine months, was busy clearing the bills pilled up by former government, amounting to over Rs 1500 crore, in various departments.
“Our government will work as per its manifesto in next five years,” he said adding ‘there are no u-turns made by government on any of the issue as pointed by Congress’.
Congress on Sunday termed the year 2012 as ‘year of Parrikar’s U-Turn’. They cited a total of 32 U-turns on issues ranging from mining, medium of instruction, infrastructure development, since coming to power in March 2012.
Mesquita has urged Parrikar to mark the year 2013 ‘as a year to punish the culprits (former ministers) involved in corruption.’
