SANGUEM: The Sanguem Traffic Cell personnel have marked specified areas for parking of public transport buses, private vehicles and two-wheelers in and around the town with white paint.
The exercise of marking the remaining areas would continue tomorrow, informed sources. It may be recalled that after taking cognisance of a Herald report highlighting the haphazard parking of vehicles at Sanguem, the traffic police had started clamping of vehicles parked at ‘No Parking Zones’ and those causing obstruction to free flow of traffic.
However, the sudden action by the Traffic Cell was later deferred due to the interference of Sanguem Municipal Council and citizens from Sanguem who demanded the notified places for ‘Parking’ and ‘No Parking’ be earmarked and painted with glow signs.
Subsequently, after a couple of meetings, the municipal authorities and the Traffic Cell noted down the areas which were to be specified as ‘Parking’ and ‘No Parking Zones’.
