PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and Environment Minister Alina Saldanha skipped the crucial meeting called by BJP national president Amit Shah on Thursday. The meeting of the west zone BJP units had no specific issue related to Goa but Shah has advised legislators of Goa, Gujarat and Maharashtra to reach out to the doorsteps of every household, connecting people with the saffron party.
In a sudden move, Shah had summoned all 21 BJP MLAs and senior party leaders to Mumbai for the meeting along with MLAs from Maharashtra and Gujarat.
There was no clarity as to why Parsekar did not attend the day-long meeting, but sources close to the CMO say he had a tight schedule and being Chief Minister he could not cancel it at the last moment.
During the meeting, Shah directed the legislators to reach out to every household, find out their grievances and their expectations from the government and party. “President was of the strong view that party should be connected to the people. People problems are party problems and every effort should be made to resolve them,” sources said.
State president Vinay Tendulkar apprised Shah about the success of Mahasampark Abhiyan and about enrollment of 4.28 lakh new members. Tendulkar also said that keeping in mind the 2017 Assembly election, the party will hold constituency-wise training camp for its workers from August, wherein the cadres would be trained on party’s ideology, its achievement at State and Central level and what BJP is.
