Pedestrian knocked to death at Arlem

MARGAO: Sixty-eight-year old pedestrian Josefa Vas, a resident of Arlem Raia died after she was knocked down by a car at Arlem.

Maina Curtorim Police said Josefa died on the spot. The car driver fled without giving her medical treatment.

The police registered an offence under Sections 279 and 304 A of the IPC against the unidentified driver for rash and negligent driving and for causing death. The police said car driver was travelling from Arlem Circle to Ponda while the pedestrian was proceeding towards  Arlem. The accident occurred near a general store at Arlem. The impact was such that Josefa was killed on the spot.

The police conducted the panchanama and are in search of car driver.
