MARGAO: Reacting to the steep hike in fuel prices including LPG across the country, the Forums working for the rights of consumers on the occasion of World Consumer Rights Day called upon the people to register their apprehensions on the price rise and realise their rights as consumers.
Consumers complained that it is unfortunate to have such a price hike in domestic LPG when oil prices are at a record low and added that it is a harsh step on them.

The Chinchinim Citizens Forum (CCF) too condemned the hike in LPG and petrol prices.
The Mahila Congress led by Adv Pratima Coutinho has been actively agitating over the price hike. However, the prices continue to soar in Goa and across the country.
Neves Rebello of the Chinchinim Citizens’ Forum attributed the price hike to the “faulty” policies of the BJP Government. The CCF requested the Government and the elected representatives to alleviate the sufferings of the common man by reducing the fuel prices failing which the aggrieved persons may be forced to take to streets seeking justice by causing problems to all.
On the fuel price hike, the Chief Minister said “This fuel price rise is across the nation”.
Constantine Antao, Majorda Civic and Consumer Forum member said, “The people who suffer due to the fuel price hike need to have a voice. When they will have their say in the price rise it will be the day to celebrate World Consumer Rights day”.
