Many people bring their pets to the church to be blessed on St. Francis’ feast day because of his love for animals as expressed in his Canticle of Creatures. Animal lovers, many of whom regard their pets as members of the family, gathered at St Francis Xavier Church, Chicalim on Monday.
The parish priest blessed the animals in celebration of St. Francis of Assisi’s feast day. SFX Parish youth Chicalim in association with the Diocesan Commission for Ecology organised Pet Blessings 2.0. Accompanied by their owners, dogs, cats and even a pet turtle received blessings on the church grounds.
