Police permitted to further probe Tejpal rape case

PANJIM: The Fast Track Court has allowed Crime Branch to conduct further investigation into a rape complaint against senior journalist Tarun Tejpal.

PANJIM: The Fast Track Court has allowed Crime Branch to conduct further investigation into a rape complaint against senior journalist Tarun Tejpal. 
The order pronounced on Thursday was based on an application by CB seeking the court’s permission to carry out further investigations and file a supplementary charge sheet that will comprise Hollywood actor Robert De Niro’s statement and forensic reports.
De Niro had faxed his reply saying he had not seen the victim disturbed nor did she share with him anything related to the alleged rape in the hotel lift or elsewhere.
A voluminous charge sheet, running into 12 volumes was filed on February 17, charging Tejpal with raping, sexually harassing and outraging the modesty of his junior colleague.

Tejpal is presently in Delhi after Supreme Court granted him interim bail till June 27.
