PONDA: In a swift move, Ponda Police on Monday cracked yet another murder case reported at Marcel within 24 hours by nabbing the trio for allegedly killing a Bihar native.
The Police arrested the trio which included two women -27-year-old Cabrina Rodrigues, a resident of St Estevam and 23-year-old Rulasha Fernandes from Khandola-Marcel and 32-year-old Sunil Gajanan Madkaikar from Chimbel in connection with murder of 44-year-old Bihar native one Harindar Prasad, a mason, who was residing at Ameywada, Marcel.

Briefing media persons, SP Pankaj Kumar Singh along with Ponda PI Mohan Gaude said, “On Sunday, Harindar was found near Cumbarjua-Marcel Bridge. Later when he was shifted to Betki Health Centre he was declared brought dead. There were injuries on his head and other parts of the body. It is a homicidal death and offence was registered against unknown person/s under Section 302 of the IPC.”
Police started investigation under the SP’s guidance. Several teams were formed and after collecting intellectual, technical and circumstantial evidence from the crime scene the trio was arrested.
According to SP Singh, Cabrina and Rulash, who are cousins, are residing together at St Estevam. It is learnt that Harindar was in a relationship with Cabrina for past six months. However, Cabrina’s friend Sunil used to visit her regularly at her residence. Harindar was against their relationship. On Saturday night, the trio and the victim were at Cabrina’s residence. A scuffle broke out between the victim and the trio over their relationship issue following which the three accused assaulted the victim.
The SP said, “A weapon was used in committing the murder as victim had injuries on his head and other parts of the body. Police are investigating the case in detail and identifying the role of each of the accused in the murder. The crime scene will be recreated for probe.”
He said after committing the murder, the trio ferried the victim’s body in a vehicle and dumped it near the Cumbarjua-Marcel Bridge and fled. On Sunday morning, the locals saw the body and informed the Police.
Recently, the police had also cracked the double murder case reported within 24 hours wherein two elderly sisters were found murdered in their residential flat in the town. SP Singh appreciated the Ponda Police team for nabbing the accused.
