Ponda locals place blame sewerage dept for waterlogging issue

The residents of Ponda and the PMC have placed the blame on the sewerage department for the waterlogging issue.

They allege that the sewerage pipelines and chambers encroached upon the municipal drains, leading to the choking of rainwater gutters. This resulted in two days of chaos, where people had to face dirty water and sewage.

The authorities worked to clear the waterlogging at Ponda Bus Stand, which required the digging of roads and underground drains. This situation highlighted the unpreparedness of the authorities for the monsoon season, with locals mentioning that the recent PMC election and the subsequent code of conduct further delayed the necessary monsoon preparations.
