The legislator demanded an investigation into the conspiracy
and threw a challenge to the Congress asking it to prove him guilty.
“It’s been four years now since I was dragged into the Nadia
Torrado case. It was nothing but a political conspiracy of the former Congress
government,” Pacheco claimed, while participating in the discussion on demand
for grants on Home.
Pacheco pointed out that the former Home Minister (Ravi
Naik) made all efforts to put him behind bars in a false case.
“I was treated like a criminal. Since the BJP came to power
in last two-and-half years, not even once have I been called to police station
for investigation. This proves that I am innocent,” he said, urging Chief
Minister Manohar Parrikar to investigate the conspiracy and take necessary
action.
The legislator, challenging the Congress Party to prove him
guilty said, “Show evidence and prove that I was involved…take me into
custody,” he challenged.
BJP MLA Michael Lobo supported Pacheco and demanded that
government should look into the matter seriously.
Lobo brought to the notice of the House that the
investigating agency is yet to file charge-sheet in the case that was reported
way back in 2010. “He is our colleague…legislator from the House…we need to
protect him…Chief Minister had in the past assured to look into the matter,” he
said.
