Vasco: Power Minister Nilesh Cabral has called upon the Goan unemployed youth to be self-employed by procuring e-rickshaw under government scheme.
He was speaking during the launch of an e-rickshaw store at Zuarinagar, Mormugao in the presence of Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha.
Cabral said the unemployed youth have to come forward and avail the benefit of the scheme which incentivises purchase of e-rickshaw for business.
“The Central Government provides a subsidy of Rs 30,000 to unemployed youth to buy this rickshaw. We will also devise a scheme for the youth with the help of EDC to lend Rs 1 lakh as loan for those interested. People have to come forward,” said Cabral.
Alina said that she expects people to come forward and take the benefits of these e-rickshaws to earn a living.
The dealer said the concept of e-rickshaws can work well for Goa and expects the government support for the same to get maximum coverage.
The e-rickshaws concept is common in Delhi and other northern cities. It is learnt that the e-rickshaw provides a mileage 80 kms on a single charge.
and is ideal for intracity transport.
