MARGAO: Former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat appealed to students to pull up their parents, relatives and friends whenever they see them littering and emphasized that cleanliness at home is where the Swach Bharat program should commence.
Speaking at a programme to create awareness on cleanliness as the first day of Swachhta Padkwada by Government High School at Vidhyanagar, Margao, he said children are the best teachers in present times as all including the parents tend to listen to them.
Headmistress of the school Regina Carvalho said Swachhta Pakhwada will continue for 15 days with various programs organized like exhibition, skits, letter writing to councillors, tree plantation, personal hygiene, drawing and painting competitions.

Local councilor Deepa Shirodkar, MMC Engineer Manoj Arsekar and Silvergate Housing Association chairman were present for the function as it was a joint venture between the school, MMC and the housing association.
