PANJIM: Criticising the government for ‘politicising’ the Opinion Poll Day, Congress on Tuesday alleged that the celebrations of ‘identity day’ is a move keeping in mind the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“It is not right to politicise Opinion Poll day and divide the people. Everything is being done keeping an eye on the forthcoming elections,” Congress MLA Ravi Naik said and added, “But Goans are smart. They will not fall for such politics. People will stand by Congress.”
Naik said the celebrations should come from the heart and by way of protecting Goa. “One should not celebrate Opinion Poll day if on the other hand you are handing over Goa’s rivers to the Centre,” he said referring to the national waterways project.
