VASCO: The nearly a century-old Mormugao municipal office building is in need of immediate repairs.
Acknowledging that the condition of the municipal building is bad, Chairman Nandadeep Raut said that the building renovation file is stuck at Directorate of Municipal Administration and has not received financial approval.
“The municipality building renovation work file is still stuck with the Directorate of Municipal Administration. The file was supposed to be sent for financial approval, but I am not aware why it has still not got financial approval,” Raut said.
Besides the municipal office, the building houses many other office, a library and the municipal school..
Sources say the offices operating in the building were supposed to vacate to carry out repairs, but due to unavailability of the alternate premise the shifting didn’t happen.
