Renovation of Saptakoteshwar temple launched

BICHOLIM: Renovation of the 350-year-old Saptakoteshwar temple at Narvem Bicholim was launched on Saturday.
The renovation is spearheaded by 97-year-old Shivshahir (a loyalist of Chhatrapati Shivaji) and historian Babasaheb Purandare.
The plaque of temples Renovation was unveiled by Purandare in presence of AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik, Archaeology Minister Vijai Sardesai, Mayem MLA Pravin Zantye, Sanjay Sardesai, Shirish Sardesai, Mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit and Blosom Madeira and others.
On the occasion Purandare said that Shivaji Maharaj played a pivotal role in liberating Goa from the Portuguese rule and planning was done when he was in Aguada jail. 
He added that Saptakoteshwar temple was one where he gained strength by constructing it in the year 1668 thereby worshipping sacred Shivlinga. He therefore called upon people to retain this historical monument in a best possible manner and also to remind the dedication of Shivaji for Goa’s liberation.
