Many devotees in hurry and carrying matoli and decorative items along with Ganesh idols for Chaturthi celebration on Friday, were stuck in the traffic jam and got irked over sudden repair work of the bridge.

Furious with the repair work, the locals said, “Its festival time and not the time for repairs of the bridge. It should have been either before or after the festival.”

The NHAI officials when contacted said, “We know its festival time. However, since joint welding expansion was damaged it was essential for urgent repairs otherwise it could have posed risk to the lives of bike riders.”

They said, “One lane was kept open but the traffic jam happened as there was a huge traffic movement due to festival time.”
