MARGAO: The Union Railway Ministry has cleared five key rail over-bridge (RoB) projects that have been long-pending demands of residents of Utorda, Majorda, Seraulim, Comba and Davorlim in Salcete.
This was announced by South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, who also informed that the Ministry had sanctioned funds for the construction of railway over-bridges/under-bridges for Konkan Railways in South Goa in its budget for 2016- 17.
The first RoB will be constructed on the Verna-Majorda route, in lieu of level crossing no 43 at the Utorda gate. Rs 9.77 lakh has been sanctioned for the same.
The second RoB is on the same route at the Majorda gate, in lieu of level crossing no 44. The sanctioned amount is Rs 10.57 lakh.
The third RoB, which has been a major issue for the residents of Seraulim, is on the Majorda- Margao route, in lieu of level crossing no 45 at the Seraulim gate. The sanctioned amount is Rs 12.76 lakh.
The fourth RoB will be constructed on the Majorda-Margao route, in lieu of level crossing no 46 at the Damodar Gate. Rs 12.99 lakh has been sanctioned for the same.
The fifth RoB will be on the Margao-Balli route, in lieu of level crossing no 47 at the Davorlim gate. The sanctioned amount is Rs 10.65 lakh.
