Expressing satisfaction over this development,    Margao MLA Digambar Kamat highlighted Dr Gome’s many achievements, calling him a nationalist and praising him for voicing the need for freedom to Goa in the Portuguese Parliament.

Kamat also lamented that there is no state-level function in the motherland of Dr Gomes.

“Today, the younger generation doesn’t know anything about Dr. Francisco Luis Gomes. There have to be lessons on him in Goan education and a state-level function in Goa to commemorate the work of the great person” said the former Chief Minister.

He added that because of the change in the Land Acquisition Act and the house of Dr Gomes being private land, the process of taking over and protecting his house has delayed indefinitely.
