PONDA: About seven shop owners have complained to Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) and the health officer to initiate action against the sewage water overflowing from a soak pit of a residential complex in Ponda.
The shop owners have complained that the sewage and dirty water from the soak pit overflows in front of their shops and they have to bear the unbearable stink. They said the customers visiting their shops faces a lot of hardship and the place has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
According to shop owners, Nandesh Virnodkar and Pramod Sawant, the water from the soak pit has been overflowing in their complex for a long time now.
They said a few occupants from the complex who are engaged in business release sewage and dirty water out in the open. They fear that continuous flow of sewage in front of their shops may pose a threat to health. About seven shop owners have complained to PMC and the health officer.
