PONDA: Locals in Ponda and Kavlem have complained that their compound walls have been damaged by workers laying underground sewerage lines.
The aggrieved persons complain that the road digging is being carried out for STP lines and chambers, without due care and supervision. They also complain that since the labourers carry out these works largely on their own, using JCB earthmovers, a number of compound walls have been damaged in Ponda and Kavlem.
According to the affected people, the road digging is posing danger to motorists and the general public, and traffic snarls have become the order of the day. The aggrieved persons have reportedly complained to the police and the deputy collector. When this reporter asked a JCB operator as to who was supervising his work, he could neither give the name of his supervisor nor his phone number.
