Sharp rise in COVID-19 daily cases

Urban Health Centre, Panjim records highest 128 active cases followed by 112 at UHC Margao

PANJIM: A surge in COVID-19 cases saw the daily count cross the 150-mark on Saturday. The single-day spike has also pushed the active cases count to close to 1,000.
The health bulletin of the Department of Health Services came as a rude shock when new cases of the last 24 hours was recorded at 154, while active cases that were 899 on Friday showed a total of 997 cases on Saturday.
Urban Health Centre, Panjim has recorded the highest 128 active cases followed by 112 at UHC Margao.
The daily recovery was also low compared to the daily spike. Recovery in the last 24 hours was 56 while the total recovered patients are 54,713.
The State has so far registered 56,525 cases, which includes 154 testing positive during the last 24 hours. The only relief was that there was no death of a COVID-19 patient recorded during this period even as the total death count stands at 815.
After a lull of nearly five months, Goa has begun to show a rise in COVID-19 cases during the current month. Prior to this, Goa registered 100 cases twice within a span of around 20 days.
