PONDA: Angry that the Ponda police failed to take strong action against the accused who allegedly brutally assaulted PWD employee Inacio Silva on MOnday, Shiroda villagers on Wednesday took out a morcha to PWD office at Dag Ponda and questioned the officials as to why they failed to insist with the police to slap serious sections against the accused.
The villagers said that police should have registered a case of attempt to murder against the accused.
Following this, Assistant Engineer Rashmi Shirodkar wrote to Ponda police stating that penal sections under which the FIR is registered is not satisfactory and suggested proper investigation and book the culprits for attempt to murder.
Later, the villagers went to the police station and questioned the officials. Locals demanded severe punishment for all the four accused, two of whom were immediately released on bail.
Police assured the villagers that they would conduct proper investigation into matter.
