PANJIM: After the final day of withdrawal, a total of six candidates are left in fray, for Panjim by-elections scheduled on May 19.
On the last day of nominations one Independent Anish Bacal withdrew his nomination.
As many as 15 nominations were filed by the candidates, of which eight nominations were thrown out during scrutiny, keeping seven in fray.
BJP, who has been ruling the assembly seat since 1994, has fielded its two time former MLA Siddhart Kuncolienkar against Congress’s Atanasio alias Babush Monserrate, a former St Cruz MLA.
Former Goa RSS Chief Subhash Velingkar is contesting on Goa Suraksha Manch’s (GSM) ticket; while Valmiki Naik has been fielded by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
There are two Independent candidates including, Dilip Ghadi and Vijay More.
