Sopte attended p’yat building function not LED bulbs: Redkar

PANJIM: Mandrem Congress block president Narayan Redkar on Friday clarified that former MLA Dayanand Sopte had attended the inauguration of the Parsem panchayat building and not the distribution of LED bulbs.

The Herald report on Friday had wrongly reported that block secretary Amit Sawant had criticised Sopte for attending a function for distribution of LED bulbs. Redkar clarified that Sopte had attended the inauguration of a panchayat building.
“Such behaviour is undoing of hardwork of party workers,” Sawant had said.
Reacting to the statement, Sopte told Herald, “I have not attended any function which included distribution of LED bulbs.”
Meanwhile, at a press conference Sopte said he attended the building inauguration function as it was in his village. “Parsem is my village and Pernem people have always supported me. As a resident of Parsem it is my duty to keep a check on what is going on in my village so attending a programme which is important for the village was necessary.”
