MARGAO: In a significant development, Returning Officer for the South Goa Lok Sabha constituency, Mihir Vardhan, has ordered suspension of booth-level officer in charge of booth No 3 of Navelim constituency Shivaji Sable.
Vardhan told Herald late Thursday evening that he has placed the BLO under suspension after the inquiry report confirmed that he did not comply with the procedure relating to deletion of names of shifted voters. “The election manual has prescribed certain procedures in respect of deletion of names of shifted voters. The inquiry conducted by the Mamlatdar has revealed that the BLO did not comply with the procedure while deleting names of voters from the electoral list”, he added.
The Returning Officer had instituted an inquiry by the Mamlatdar on a complaint by Trinamool Congress candidate Churchill Alemao.
