Special IAF recruitment drive for Goans on Aug 27

PANJIM: In a first, the Indian Air Force (IAF) will be holding a special recruitment drive for Goans to join the IAF as Airmen. The recruitment process will be held on August 27 and 29 at the athletic stadium in Bambolim.
Wing Commander Fernando DaCosta, a Goan by origin who has scaled to the position of Commanding Officer, Air Force recruiting Officer addressed the media in the capital. He informed that the special recruitment drive is being conducted only for Goan boys born between July 19, 1999 and July 1, 2003 and have passed class 12 examination in any stream with 50 percent marks.
“The government is conducting a special recruitment drive only for Goan boys who are of Goan domicile. For non-science stream students the recruitment process will be held on August 27 and for students from science stream the process will be held on August 29. The reporting time is 6.30 am at the athletic stadium in Bambolim near the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC),” he said.
Responding to the number of vacancies available, he said that there is no limit set and all those who fulfil the minimum criteria will be selected. “We will select as many Goans who fulfil the criteria even if it is 1000 boys”, he added.
Stating that the recruitment process will begin with the fitness test, he informed that the physical fitness test includes 1.6 kms of run which should be completed in 6 minutes and 30 seconds followed by another fitness test including 10 push ups, 10 sit ups and 20 squats. The physical fitness test will be followed by written examination which will test English and reasoning and general awareness of the candidate.
Finally the candidates will undergo adaptability test consisting of psychological test and group discussion.
