PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has postponed the ongoing hearing into an appeal filed by the State government challenging acquittal of senior journalist Tarun Tejpal to November 24. The adjournment comes owing to the absence of Tejpal’s counsel.
Last month, the court had refused to consider an application by Tejpal to hold in-camera hearing into the plea ‘at this point’ even as his legal team filed two applications before the Division Bench of Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice M S Jawalkar challenging the maintainability of the appeal filed by Goa government against his acquittal, and seeking in-camera hearing.

While the court refused to consider in-camera hearing at this point of time, the hearing on another application of maintainability was scheduled to be held on Monday, November 16. With the counsel’s absence, the court has adjourned the matter for hearing on November 24, Wednesday.
