PERNEM: Truck owners from Pernem Taluka on Tuesday stopped Maharashtra vehicles from entering into the State via Patradevi check post in protest against an infrastructure company for not paying market rate charges for their transportation service.
Since the trucks of Maharashtra State registration were stopped, the Pernem police had to intervene. Subsequently, a meeting was called in the office of Pernem Police Station with Pernem Mamlatdar, officials of the infrastructure company and truck owners. Truck owners said that the discussion was not satisfactory.
President of Pernem Truck Owners Association Milind Shetye said that they stopped the trucks in protest against their demand to provide a market rate for the transportation trips for Mopa Airport Project.
Truck owners claimed that it’s a matter of their livelihood.
