PANJIM: A day after cracking down on two bike thieves and recovering 14 stolen bikes from various hidden locations, Panjim police had another task on their hands ~ this time to trace three thieves who struck at a shop in the capital in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
In the wee hours on Thursday, three persons robbed a general store of Rs 43,000 and fled from the scene, however, the entire robbery is reportedly captured on CCTV cameras. The offense occurred at around 2.30 am on Thursday. According to a complaint filed by Yoganand Khedekar, three unidentified persons entered the shop by bending the shutter of Samrath General Stores and decamping with cash of Rs 15,000, mobile recharge vouchers of Rs 20,000 and expensive cigarette packets worth Rs 8,000.
“Two persons executed the robbery while the third guarded the place to alert them if he sensed trouble… they however fled when they noticed a milk van was making trips of the city,” said an official.
In another incident, the town police arrested a local for outraging the modesty of a 24-year-old woman and behaving indecently near a two-wheeler showroom on Thursday morning. The person identified as Laxman Kankonkar was later released on bail.
