PANJIM: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday warned of intense thunder showers and lightning over the State in the next two days and issued an alert for fisherman not to venture into the sea.
As per the IMD weather forecast, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are likely to occur at isolated places in the State but there is no weather warning for the next four days.
“There is no alert of cyclone in Goa. We are expecting heavy thunder showers and lightning over the coast in the next two days. This is since well-marked low pressure has been formed over southwest Arabian Sea off the Kerala and Karnataka coast,” IMD-Goa Director ML Sahu said.
He said, “The fisherman is advised not to venture into the sea along and off Kerala and Karnataka, Lakshadweep and Comorin area during May 26 to 30.”
The forecast for Panjim in the next 24 hours is cloudy sky with possibility of rain/thundershowers with temperatures likely to be around 33 and 28 degrees Celsius.
