PANJIM: Tourism department will soon set up an e-registration system in South Goa, two and half months after launching the e-service at the registration facilitation centre (RFC) at Paryatan Bhavan in Panjim, where all industry-related trade activities can be registered and renewed online.
Newly-appointed Tourism director Sanjeev Dessai confirmed that work to set the system in place is almost complete. The facility, officials claim, has eased the load on all stakeholders by ensuring that their services are registered and/or renewed online.
As many as 2,200 trade licences and certificates have been issued and renewed since September 27. The five-stage process, expect for submission of applications, has been digitized. The department claims it will do away with the old method soon.
The director has denied involvement of touts stating they have not encountered any such case so far. ‘If there is any complaint, the touts will be dealt with strictly,” he added.
Dessai, who took over as director recently, also said he will study the ongoing and proposed projects, including beach cleaning management, lifeguard services along the beaches, and the pending Tourism Master Plan and Policy. He also assured to expedite the process to construct toilets, changing room and locker facilities at all beaches and the rent-a-cab and tourist taxi imbroglio.
