Traffic restrictions for Panjim Shigmo parade

PANJIM: The Goa Traffic Police have made elaborate traffic arrangements for the smooth movement of traffic in Panjim on Saturday, March 30 from 2 pm onwards in view of Shigmo floats parade. 

From 2 pm, all floats will be allowed to proceed from Divja Circle below Mandovi bridge near Santa Monica Jetty to reach the starting point i.e Old Secretariat via Dayanand Bandodkar Marg on river side lane. The floats parade will culminate near the Directorate of Health Services building Campal and all the floats will be parked at the football ground till further instructions from the Traffic Police.

The incoming traffic to Panjim city will proceed as per normal route that is through new Patto bridge via Divja Circle and MLCP parking facility route and will be diverted inside the city at Dayanand Bandodkar statue, Church Square and Cross road junction. Vehicles coming from Bambolim will also be allowed to enter the city via new Mala bridge-Four Pillars junction, Bhatlem. Traffic coming from Ribandar side will be diverted at Ribandar Causeway via Merces underpass, take right and proceed to Panjim via NH 4A.

Once floats parade starts, no city buses will be allowed to ply in either direction till the floats parade is over. The outgoing buses including route buses from Miramar side will take right turn from Campal Ganesh/Kala Academy via fire brigade junction, St Inez junction, Caculo island, 18th June Road, Church Square, Cortin and proceed further via Old Patto bridge or mala Bridge, while traffic coming from Rua-de-Ourem on reaching near Hotel Sona will not be allowed to take left turn and will be diverted to take right turn and then proceed towards Kaju Darbar and to their respective destinations.

All vehicles coming from North Goa for the floats parade will be parked at EDC Plaza/MLCP and near KTC bus stand while vehicles coming from South Goa district will have to take road via GMC, Goa University, NIO Circle, Miramar and park at Campal Parade ground.  

The public and motorists are requested to take note of the same and plan their journey to avoid any inconvenience.
