Truck caves in on 18th June Road for the eighth time

PANJIM: The spree of heavy vehicles falling victims to Smart City works continues in Panjim, as on Tuesday, the rear tyre of a truck got stuck after a road caved in near the Saraswati Mandir building on 18th June Road.

The said road stretch was completely closed to vehicular traffic. The truck reportedly belonged to the contractor, who is executing the road infrastructure work at the site.

Fortunately, no one was injured, and even the driver of the truck escaped unhurt. 

This is the eighth such incident reported in the capital city since February 6, as digging is carried out on most of the rods.

Such incidents have taken place at St Inez, near the Government Printing Press, Azad Maidan and the heritage area of Sao Tome in Panjim. In one of the incidents, four workers were injured and had to be admitted to hospital for treatment.
