PERNEM: After 18 days’ of investigation, the Pernem police finally arrested two persons in connection with the Agarwada SBI ATM theft case, with the help of Delhi police.
Pernem police said that a team headed by PSI Anant Gaonkar along with South Delhi Police arrested one Vinod alias Mota Bhai Mawasir Lal, a resident of Delhi and a native of Uttar Pradesh who is linked to Agarwada SBI ATM theft case. The accused was arrested near Sanket Metro Station in Delhi on Tuesday.
During interrogation Vinod reportedly admitted that he was involved in ATM Theft and had received Rs 1 lakh for the same however police could recover only Rs 20,000 from him.
Meanwhile, the South Delhi police arrested had arrested one Suhas alias Rustam, an accomplice of Vinod on September 23 also at Sanket Metro station. The accused is a Bangladeshi who is on the list of wanted criminals in several ATM thefts cases in Goa as well as in Delhi. . Rustom would fly down to Goa to steal money from different ATM and return to Delhi.
Delhi police have seized Rs 1.98 lakh cash, two mobile phones, 13 silver utensils and six wrist watches from Rustom. During interrogation, Rustom reportedly revealed that his gang used to target ATMs which that have no security guard.
The Pernem police team is expected to reach Goa with the accused Vinod on Thursday.
