CALANGUTE: Two persons were seriously injured when a boat laden with tourists, which was returning from a trip, overturned at Baga Beach on Wednesday evening.
According to eye witnesses, the boat overturned as it neared the Baga shores reportedly due to heavy underwater currents, creating panic among the tourists, owners, locals and other boat owners.
The person who was steering the boat and a tourist along with two children fell in the water. While the children were pulled out of the water, their father was injured. He was pulled out by locals.
Eyewitnesses further informed that both the tourist and the person steering the boat were given first aid on the shore. He was shifted to PHC Candolim, while the tourist was shifted to GMC Hospital in Bambolim.
Calangute Police claimed that there were minor injuries to some and they were yet to gather the details.
