Venzy Viegas Alleges BJP Plot to Divert Flights from Dabolim Airport, Says AAP Will Fight to Protect South Goa’s Lifeline

AAP MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas on Wednesday cautioned that Dabolim Airport, regarded as a vital lifeline for South Goa, is facing a serious threat, alleging that the BJP is attempting to divert air traffic away from the airport to benefit corporate entities with links to defence contracts.

Addressing the media, Viegas claimed that such a move would severely impact thousands of families in South Goa who depend on Dabolim Airport for their livelihoods, including those engaged in tourism, transport, and allied sectors. He stressed that weakening the airport would directly affect employment opportunities and the region’s economic stability.

The AAP legislator asserted that his party will strongly oppose any attempt to undermine Dabolim’s operations and vowed to take the issue to the streets if necessary. “Dabolim Airport belongs to the people of South Goa. We will not allow it to be sacrificed for corporate interests,” he said.

Viegas further called upon the state government to clarify its stand and assure the public that Dabolim Airport will continue to function at full capacity. He reiterated AAP’s commitment to safeguarding public infrastructure and protecting the interests of Goan families.
