PANJIM: Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) State leader Luizinho Faleiro on Thursday said that the party will field clean and new faces in the upcoming Assembly elections as it has set a target of winning all the 40 seats.

Addressing the media at a city hotel, Faleiro said he was receiving many calls and there were various leaders willing to join the new outfit in the State. However, he said that the party would promote new clean and faces in the Assembly elections and party will change the trend of ‘Aaya Ram Gaya Ram’, ruling out a pre-poll alliance.
Faleiro said that a survey is being conducted in all the constituencies by I-PAC to determine the problems faced by the people. “We will get details in the next 10 days and after that a roadmap and action plan will be prepared. We will have manifestos for all 40 Assembly segments, which would be prepared by holding consultations with the people,” he added.
The former Chief Minister said that the TMC would welcome all the leaders who want to fight the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “Goa is suffering and its needs a change. TMC is here to provide a reliable and formidable alternative,” he said.
When asked whether he has been offered Rajya Sabha seat by the TMC, Faleiro said, “Let the offer come then I will decide.” He also added that he will decide at an appropriate time whether to contest the 2022 Assembly polls.

Faleiro said that it was the TMC which had 41 per cent of representation by women.
Asked whether TMC will admit defectors and allot them tickets to contest elections, Faleiro said, “As far as TMC is concerned we will give 40 clean and new faces and if there are good and credible leaders we would like to have them so that ultimately the aim and objective is to serve the people and serve the State.”
He said he had invited West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee to visit the state and hinted that he will visit the State after the end of the ongoing ‘Pitra Paksh’ (inauspicious month as per the Hindu calendar).
Claiming that people of Goa were unhappy with the BJP government, he said TMC would offer a credible alternative to the current ruling dispensation. “We want to defeat divisive forces in Goa and we will start the movement from sacred land of Goa,” he said.
Former Ponda MLA Lavu Mamledar said he joined TMC as he was impressed with the action plan of the party.
Former Congress general secretary Yatish Naik said there were many issues which plagued the State and it was time to send the BJP packing. “Governance has collapsed, there is economic breakdown, unemployment is at its peak. We will prove to be an alternative to the BJP in the State,” Naik said.
