After the Goa’s Fisheries Department’s lone patrol
vessel went out of order, the government has initiated the process to hire
fishing trawlers for patrolling. The trawlers are also intended to take part in
security exercises like Sagar Kavach. How will the slow diesel operated
trawlers be ever able to catch up with fast moving vessels, with powerful
motors, which illegally fish in Goan waters?
