He was addressing as the chief guest on the occasion of World Women Day-2015, observed by the Zindagi Goa, a state level network for people living with HIV/AIDS in Goa in association with Ravindra Bhavan Baina and Vasco Muslim Social Trust in a function held at Ravindra Bhavan auditorium at Baina. The theme of the celebration was ‘Women empowerment in the society’.
The principal of Baina higher secondary school Vishakha Pusekar, Dr Vandana Patankar, Vasco Journalists’ Union treasurer Hiru Mahale, Vasco Muslim Social Trust president Hassan Khan, social worker Ammien Din Mulla, Zindagi Goa director Mahesh Govekar, Zindagi Goa programme manager Azad Shaikh and Kanchan Naik were present on the dais.
Speaking further, Gawas emphasized on self confidence which is an important aspect among the human beings. “The women can climb every heights of success if she possesses self confidence in her mind”, stated Gawas. He also stressed on women self empowerment where women can achieve every possible goal in her life. “The women instead of sitting at their homes should come forward and fight for their legitimate rights of getting all types of education, starting from primary to higher education of their choice”, told Gawas.
He however has informed that the Ravindra Bhavan Baina would soon organize a self defence course workshop, especially benefitting the women from Vasco. He appealed to the women to enroll their names in large number for the self defence course workshop.
Dr Vandana Patankar in her speech stressed on nutrition and health of women. “Maintaining health condition is very important aspect by the women wherein she should take every possible precautions in order to keep their family healthy”, stated Dr Patankar. “The health, wealth and character of women are inter- linked and these three aspects would always help the women to live a better life in the society”, added Dr Patankar.
The principal of Baina higher secondary school Vishakha Pusekar have stressed that the women should be educated and financially sound in order to sustain in today’s changing scenario. “The women can overcome all difficulties, if they are educated and financially sound”, stated Pusekar.
The Vasco Journalist Union treasurer Hiru Mahale appreciated the efforts of Zindagi Goa, Ravindra Bhavan and Vasco Muslim Social Trust for honouring the women for the valuable contribution in the society. “Such types of programmes would certainly encourage other women and also it would be a kind of awareness to become self confidence and self sustain in their lives”, stated Mahale.
On the occasion, eleven women namely Shalaka Kambli, Muskan Khan, Shanti Sakhalkar, Jyoti Harijan, Benedita Godinho besides Ashwini Raikar, Abida Shaikh, Jamila Sayyed, Sanaa Shaikh, Shahin Hussain Khan and Saira Banu were felicitated at the hands of the chief guest and guests on the dais by presenting them mementoes and certificates of appreciation for their valuable contribution in the society.
Various competitions were organized for the women and even for the girls in order to mark World Women Day-2015. Children’s especially girls presented live dance performances. The function was jointly compered by Shalaka Kambli, Bali Salpure and Mahesh Govekar. Hassan Khan proposed the vote of thanks.
