VIRABHAT-CURTORIM: Agxem defeated Camarxet 4-1 to move into the final of the 5th Jose and Franky Memorial inter-ward football tournament, organised by Sporting Club of Virabhat (Curtorim) at St Alex Church ground, on Thursday.
The heavy rains didn’t stop both the teams as they gave their best in front of 400.
In an exciting match both sides created good moves but couldn’t score in the first half. Agxem could have taken the lead but Nickson Castanha’s shot went wide at the half-hour mark. There was no score at the break.
In the second half, Agxem scored early through Nickson Castanha to make it 1-0. Agxem went all guns blazing against Camarxet and netted three more goals through Manuel Castanha, Nickson Castanha and Joshly Gomes to make it 4-0.
In the dying minute, Camarxet pulled a goal back through Caitan Viegas. Camarxet’s Brain Fernandes received emerging player of the match award.
