MARGAO: Ambelim Sports Club prevailed over Margao Sports Club 8-7 via sudden death to sail into the semi final of the All Goa Mandopa Cup inter village football tournament organized by Mandopa Sporting Club at the Mandopa ground, on Wednesday.
Ambelim Sports Club were trailing 0-1 at lemon break .
Margao Sports Club started the game on an attacking mode and drew the first blood in the 15th minute when Kishan Borkar punished the rival goalkeeper with a deft placement.
Ambelim Sports Club tried their best to neutralized the lead but could not break down the rival’s alert defence which guarded the slender lead.
After the resumption, Ambelim Sports Club came out with renewed ideas and had a couple of scoring chances but their forwards either shot wide or shot straight into the safe hands of rival goalkeeper . Lyndon D’Silva equalized in the 45th minute .
In the ensuing penalty shoot out, Jesus Pinto, Jaison Fernandes, Elviston D’Silva, Ashley Fernandes, Joe Fernandes, Richard Fernandes and Lyndon D’Silva found the mark for Ambelim while Peter Pinto, Micheal Faleiro, Benny Dias, Joel Camara, Francis Andrade, and Cliff Barretto converted for Margao.
