PANJIM: Ambelim Sports Club registered a hard-fought 6-5 tie-breaker win over CAC Cansaulim in the Lourdes Soccer, organised by Ambelim Sports club, at Ambelim ground, on Friday.
Ambelim Sports Club started the match on the front foot and successfully took the lead in the sixth minute through Arvind Fernandes. However, the joy was short-lived as Elvino Fernandes restored parity for CAC Cansaulim in the 25th minute.
The teams were tied 1-1 at the break. Crossing end, the duel continued as both sides showed urgency in netting the match winner.
However, both sides’ strikers failed to convert their chances while at some instances both the teams defended well as the second half witnessed no goals.
In the tie-breaker, Cletus Pinto, Rayan Pinto, Premson Fernandes, Semson Fernandes and Ralief Pinto scored for Ambelim.
Only Melody Correira, Chadwick Furtado, Elvino Fernandes and Roysal Teodosio converted for Cansaulim.
Stand-in keeper Premson Fernandes saved a crucial spot-kick in the tie-breaker to send his team ahead in the tournament.
